Agenda: Addressing the Global Rise in Informal Employment and Ensuring Decent Work Conditions in the Post-Pandemic Economy

This committee focuses on the growing informal labour sector that leaves millions without job security, social protection, or workers' rights. Delegates must assess how economic disruptions caused by COVID-19, digital gig work, and global inequality have deepened labour market vulnerabilities. The ILO must respond with international standards that promote decent work, fair wages, and inclusive employment frameworks. Delegates will debate regulatory challenges, unionization in informal sectors, gender disparities, and the role of automation. Developed nations must reconcile growth with ethical labour sourcing, while developing countries seek structural reform and international support. Solutions could include stronger ILO conventions, labour inspections, or transnational social safety nets. A committee where social justice meets global economic governance.
